Displacement Map isnt 100% the same when re-applied

As a workaround to another problem I need to reapply a displacement to my model.
As you can see from the attachment it looks pretty good but I have some UV border problems at the top and the skin folds around the nose and forehead appear to be buckling a little.
Although these problems my not be worth worrying about I should point out that the map will ultimately be used on Modo which amplifies the issue a little more creating some nasty sharp highlights on those folds.

I have a suspicion that its something to do with smooth UVs either on export or re-import but Im not sure which boxes I need to check to get a nice clean map.

Any suggestions?
