Displacement map is diferent from on pose to another

Hi
I am having the following problem.
I have diferent poses for the same character. So,for example I do a displacment map for the normal pose.Everything Ok so far…the I take the same character but with his arm up.I don´t sculpt anything and this time, when I do the displacement map and compare it to the one I did before, they are diferent!!I mean, the white and dark zones are not the same exactly…they should be the same, why they are not?
This is a huge problem because what I am trying to do is making wrinkles appear when the arm is up.So I need to do the pose,so the wrinkles are accurate. What I should get is the exact same displacement on both poses execpt for the wrinkles…help me please :frowning:
Thx

Have you stored your base cage mesh as a morph target, and are you switching between that and the multi-res version each time you go between subdivision levels?

In other words:

  1. Import, store morph, divide, detail.
  2. Go to level 1 and switch back to the stored morph target.
  3. Create the displacement map.
  4. Switch morph targets again. Go to the higher levels and do whatever.
  5. Return to level 1, switch back to the stored morph target.
  6. Create the next displacement map.

If you aren’t swapping the base mesh with the multi-res level 1, then you will certainly run into trouble. Any change at any level affects all other levels when you go to them. You need to keep a baseline.

No,I wasn´t doing that.Thank you for the explanation.I am going to try that.
