Displacement map into a normal map

I have created a model in 3D max and added a Displacement map. The issue is there are a few objects in the scene with quite large displacement maps and the render time is crazy.

So my idea is import the model to Zbrush, add the displacemnt then create a Normal map form it. I just want to know if this is do-able in theory its simple enough but would the normal map see the displacment map, or is they a way in zbrush to bake the displacment map onto the model then produce the normal map??

Thanks Phil

Sorry this should be in the support part of the forum, could a admin move it, thanks

Subdivide as you wish, import the displ and apply it (under displ panel). If you’re happy, select the lower resolution mesh (base) and bake nor-maps.
May I ask, max can bake textures, yes? Why not there? I’m not a max user.

Yea you can bake in max but im not sure if that will reduce the render times i am getting, 90hrs with displacemnt map compared to 2hr without displacement. So i thouight a normal map would reduce the times. I could bake in max and see if that reduces the render time.
