displacement map in Maya mental ray

Hi everyone,

I got a question about maya mental ray displacement map render.
I exported displacement map from Zbrush and put it into Maya. The question is how come mental ray render in Maya doesn’t look exactly like what I see in Zbrush? There’s a lot of small details missing.
Anyone has an idea about that? Let me know please.

And one more question is can I render displacement map with ambine occulsion?

Depending on how many polys your model in zbrush has, you cant really expect to get a perfect reproduction of the zbrushed version when you bring it into maya.
It would require a fair bit of tweaking to get close, and usually the finest layer wouldnt look as good in maya as it does in zbrush.
You mainly want to use the displacement map to get the big surface details and contours, not the fine little ones. You would either have the last fine detail layer as a cavity map, bump map or a normal map etc. Zmapper can help you with those.
