I have been Rebaking maps, messing with settings, etc. I also have been surfing for tuts and suggestions yet nothing seems to help. Ill post some pics of the zbrush model vs the maya model and type out the main settings I used. I really hope someone can help solve this as I have been battling maya with disp maps for a long time now.
I baked the map using multiexporter 3 settings are mostly default except dp subpixel is set to 2. The map size is 2000. The code I use is DE-LAEK-EAEAEA-R32
In maya I have Feature displacement off
approximation editor using Subdivisions with parametrics set to 5 (I have also tried spacial with 3 to 5 min/ max subs and length set to .01 to .001 but no dice). My poly count for the zbrush model is around 12 mil.
I have a single point light in the scene and maya default light turned off.
Alpha gain is 2.2 Alpha offset is -1.1 (32 bit map)
Oh yes. I have been converting my .tiffs to .map files when tiffs dont work.
