I have baked some details for a model in MODO into a displacement map and my plan was to apply the displacement to the base mesh in ZBrush and then continue with sculpting to add high frequency details, but when I apply the displacement in Z it looks all layered or posterized, like it is getting re-sampled down to 8 bit.
Here is the same mesh at the same level in MODO, it is a 16 bit image, so it clearly has enough info in it to be smooth.
Any thoughts on how to get the same nice smooth details onto my Zbrush model would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
