Displacement from only one layer at top level?

Is there a way for a diplacement map to be created that is the difference between the top level of the mesh and a layer that has been turned on?

I’m working on a big production and we are sculpting in additional wrinkles to some characters on a separate layer. We cant divide any more and only want the wrinkles isolated on a disp map.

We can do a displacement from level 4 to 5(the highest) and use morph target to get them, but this will always introduce some small values of displacement that are from the smoothing from 4 to 5.

Yeah, I can’t think of a way to do this other than creating the map from a lower level. It’s not possible to generate a map from the top level in ZBrush. You might try using the Cage button to reduce smoothing between the two levels but there’s bound to be some extra stuff in there.

The only way of being sure that you just get your layer sculpting would be to subdivide one more time with smoothing off. You might get a satisfactory result from splitting the mesh into two subtools then dividing each one more time. It would be best to generate a 32 bit map if you do that.
