Displacement bake controls

So I’ve been having a world of troubles with baking displacements from zbrush over multiple uv tiles. I’ve found a resolution now, but the fact that something which should be fairly simple is such a nightmare because of simple controls not being included, and format converters being dodgy kinda sucks.

So here are the fixes I would love to see

-I would like to be able to control whether my maps are stored as RGB or grayscale from within zbrush.

This one seems like an obvious one really, because in my eyes any displacement (except vector) should be greyscale even if it’s 32 bit??
Why do I get red 32 bit displacements?

-Fix the 32bit tiff exporter

This issue is a nightmare. Makes your tiff displacements unreadable in any application, I’m guessing because the thing only saves one channel in a 3 channel RGB format instead of just saving a greyscale image.

Hopefully somebody who can look at these issues sees this

I don’t know if this will help or not. http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Tool:Displacement_Subpalette

mmm not so much. looking for features that aren’t currently in Zbrush.
Thanks though!

Just a suggestion, but have you considered trying xNormal?

I have. And xNormal’s great. But projection artifacts are more likely to happen due to the different methods involved unfortunately.

And to be honest, I don’t like leaving zbrush till the work’s done.

Thanks!
