Is there any tutorial on how to create normal and displacement maps for Zbrush 3.5 R3? I understand that creating them are different than we are used to in the last version?
Displacement Maps http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Displacement_Maps_in_3.5
Normal Maps http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Normal_Maps_in_3.5
When you have created the map press the Clone Disp / Clone NM button to transfer the map to the Texture/Alpha window where it can be saved.
Richard
absolutely right…
just to break it down
the menu is under the tool palette, both disp and norm sub menus.
All the settings are here (no need to manually set them as before), as mentioned above, once created clone then export.
Remember HD geometry can be captured in these maps.
if your using maya…
you can export your model as an ascii file, when iported to maya the shader will be setup along with your texture, normal and disp for mental ray.
Thanks that helped me understand. Now I have to work on getting in the details better displayed.
