Hi , I am currently using zbrush 3.5 R 3 to export normal and displacement maps and then render in maya. The result is not at all ideally close to the sculpt.
After i set the settings in the UV map, displacement and normal map panels, I hit export into .ma file. and apparently, all the maps should be hooked up and connected ready to render in mental ray. But it failed. I tried to deduce which map was broken by breaking the connection in maya. and as shown both the normal and displacement maps are not exported properly.
I even tried cloning the maps ( transfers to the alpha side) and export the maps manually. I get the same result.
I have gone into the forums to try and find ways. but this is the way i am using which was mentioned in the other threads. and I do not have earlier version of zbrush to be able to use zmapper.
someone from pixologic needs to make better instructions for something which is so broken in the pixolgic zbrush wiki.
Does anyone have a suggestion? are my settings wrong? Is there a better way. I am all ears! thanks!
