Diplacement Incorrect after Re Import of Base Shape

Hi People

I am having trouble in ZB3 with my displacement maps not generating correctly after re importing the base shape of my model as an obj.

Heres what madness I am doing can anyone help me out with what I have missed.

PART 1

  1. Import loverly clean head.obj all quads and no overlapping uvs.
  2. Store morph.
  3. Subdivide and happily sculpt away.
  4. Bake displacement.

Brilliant it all works and renders fine, love it

PART 2

  1. The director requires a slight change to the shape of head mesh, so in my 3D app I re-export a new head.obj, the point order and uvs are still the same as before.
  2. In ZB3 I set the tool from earlier (PART 1) to subdiv 1 and switch the morph to the origional shape.
  3. I then Import the new head.obj with the shape change.
  4. I Store a morph again and set it to the highest subdiv level to check all is still working.
  5. Cool thats worked fine everything looks good, all I need to do now is re bake the diplacment.
  6. Doh it just give me a sort of bump type map that doesnt look anything like the displacement from Part 1 that worked fine. :frowning:

I actually tried this below as well to try and understand what is happening:

  1. Import an obj
  2. Subdiv it up a few levels and bake displacement, it comes out blank because you haven’t sculpted anything.
  3. Drop down to level 1 subdiv and re import the same obj and rebake the displacement for a second time, the result is the same as what i get in my example above, some sort of weird bump map. The mode button seems to have no effect once you re-import your base shape.

Is this a software bug or more likely am i doing something wrong

Cheers for any help.
