Dino Head

Hi Guys

Ok I’m very new to ZBrush, So still learning where everything is,goes and what its for. but this is as far as I’ve gotten to an Idea,

not sure which direction I’ll go in, standard dino body, more mythical, or maybe something along the mechanical lines, like its been reanimated by man with cyborgenics …sound like fun

love to hear your views on it as it stands and any improvements you can think of

thanks

Well, as we do not know exactly what direction you are going I can’t really critique in that direction, but from a pure sculpting perspective I like everything you have done so far.

The color/texture looks to just be a test since it is not in shader form under final lighting so I would say you are coming along nicely.

I have occassionally used ZB since version 2, but never really got into it until the past couple of months so I am not the most knowledgeable in all the tricks of the trade.

One suggestion is your A/O - it is extremely overblown in my mind - it should be very subtle and, unless for a specific stylizatoin, should not be more than an “impression” that makes an image pop - unless for stylization, normally I look at A/O like I would F/X - if someone can point it out it didn’t work right :).

thanks Hosch yeah this is actually just the preview render with no special lighting or shading…

A/O = Ambient occlusion? forgive me, i really am just learning the ropes…
I’ve heard the term being thrown about, but still learning what it is…

Thanks for the feedback, I definitely need it

Jase

P.s: great community here and the artwork is mindblowing to say the least

Yes, ambient occlusion - sometimes referred to as cavity map, but they are not the exact same thing - similar in how they look sometimes in ZB, but have a different purpose in other apps.

Ok Hosch, appreciated :+1: :+1:

UPDATE: bigger teeth, softer A/O , texures, lighting…and general tweaks

lots more to do

thanks for looking

Very nice for being new to Zbrush! I’d say go with zombie dino (reanimated by man) and check out the movie “The Reanimator” :stuck_out_tongue: for some inspiration!

thanks cordycep, I’ve been into art since I was very small, so Zbrush is a learning curve I have to overcome. but thats the fun part
It’ll be a lot easier once I buy a pad, not very easy with a mouse.

Everyone’s opinion is valued not just the pro’s, so go ahead !!:+1:

 You did this with a MOUSE!? Then this is even better to me now that I look at it again. Sculpting something in Zbrush with a mouse is like putting a pencil in between your buttcheeks to draw out the Mona Lisa on a stretched canvas  . So I say get a Wacom tablet and you’ll be even better! Good work here, no crits from me.

hahahahah:laughing:small_orange_diamond:laughing:,

But hey!, that’s really awesome!!! and just with a mouse!, and great details also!

hahahaha I might have to try that, I won’t take pictures,

Just checking out wacom pads now

thanks for your support guys, means a lot
