Difference between maya and zbrush??

Since zbrush 3.5 r3 supports mechanical hard surface, and peple can now create a car easily with zbrush, is maya still necessary for modeling? Can i just use zbrush to do modeling?

you could always use Zbrush to do everything. The real question is, which is faster?

Can you model car wheels, rims, radio knobs, etc faster in Zbrush, or can you do it faster in a traditional modeling app?

I personally don’t use Maya…or any autodesk product (unless I have to) for anything. I model and sculpt in Zbrush, use Modo for for things that are just faster doing it in a modeling app, and a combination of photoshop, modo, and zbrush for texture work. I use a combination of Modo and Zbrush for retopo work as well.

Rigging though…needs another app. While Zbrush can do it…kinda, and Modo can do it…kinda If I want to rig a character I have to use another program for that…either Max or XSI is what I use when rigging is needed. Bah…modo, give me bones!!!
