Deleting Polygroups

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to eliminate a polygroup which when brought to the lowest
level, equals a linear string of single polygons. They will nor go away!
Incidentally selecting this group is another issue. Is there a way to select only one polygon by Com,Shift Click? or is selecting with a marquee the only way?

Thanks,

Evan

Cmd+Shift+Click will always select all polygons that share the point that you click on (along with the other polygons in that group or groups). From there, you can use the red selection box to whittle away any extra polygons. This is especially easy if PtSelect mode is active.

To remove polygons from your mesh, you should be able to simply hide the portions of the mesh you wish to delete and then press Tool>Geometry>Delete Hidden.

Hi Aurick,

Ok your note makes sense, however getting that group selected (for deleting) at the lowest level is real tricky as its only one polygon wide.
Also tried to select at a higher level, then drop down in levels but once I get to lowest it shows up again.

Anyhow see the pics, I’m trying to remove the groups representing the gap
between teeth. I forgot why I wanted to do this but now I can’t get past it.

Thanks,
Evan

Easy! Select the dark blue for the upper row of teeth by Ctrl+Shift+Clicking on them. Reverse visibility by Ctrl+Shift+Dragging on a blank part of the canvas. Hide the lower teeth by Ctrl+Shift+Clicking on them (since the mesh is already partly hidden, they will be hidden as well). Reverse visibility again and then delete the hidden polygons.

Aurick,

Thanks for your reply, all of what you say makes sense. But I can’t get the group (gap between teeth) to actually delete. The selection process was only half of my question. The other has to do with not being able to actually make the deletion of hidden polygons stick.

Q: Should it be possible to delete a single polygon width of a polygroup?

If so, and I can’t get it to work what are your thoughts?
