Deleting Faces?

I have a model that i dont like the claws on. I went in and did a retop on just the claws. my plan was to just plug these claws in where they belong, but the old claws are still there and part of the foot mesh.

My question is how can i delete the old claws? is it possible to just select them and delete them or not? unfortunately i have decided to change the claws after doing most of my detail and dont want to lose it all.

ok, i found the delete hidden in geometry.

so my question then is will the holes where the old claws were cause problems with rapid prototyping? I plan to fill the holes with the new claws and make them intersect, so no holes.
