Delete HD Subivision?

Hello everyone,

Considering how awesome Z-brush is I find it very surprising that the developers have not included the ability to delete HD subdivisions.

I made the decision early on to use HD subdivisions, due to Z-brush’s poor ability to handle higher res models (crashing due to 4GB Ram limit).

I thought it was a fool proof way to use higher divisions, and my god was I wrong. It increases the file size substantially, and after a while - zbrush could no longer open my files, so I went to an early backup that still opened.

Now i am left with a dilemma - I would like to delete some of my HD divisions to reduce my file size, but there is no option to do so. ALSO - there is no way to project HD details onto normal divisions, so if I decided to use normal divisions, i will lose 2 levels of my work.

If someone can write a script or plugin to delete divisions I would be so grateful, you have no idea. I already contacted support, who said they passed it on to developers, but by the time they fix it i need to finish my project.

Thank you fellow zbrushers

For those who are interested in my workaround:

Duplicate the base mesh, subdivide to desired level,
press A on original HD geometry to show part of the model in high res
Go to your duplicated tool and click project all.

Repeat until the whole model is covered.

This is the only way i found to transfer my work onto non HD models (which seems to cause crashing), however i am also experimenting with hiding parts of the tools to reduce memory problems, I am yet to test this but i believe it will work.

Please let me know if you find another solution
Thanks
