Deformation with scales or hexagon textures

Hi zfriends,

I supose there is no possible to create this type of scales or hexagon ‘cells’ textures (see attached image) using a procedural algorith using zbrush.

Anybody know if its possible to use a method to project alphas (seamless) using a brush… or any trick to repeat the texture uniformly.

Using the typical alpha projection DragRec manually is so hard to weld the scales properly.

The same way he did.

unwrap the mesh, create a tiling alpha.
apply this as a texture and repeat it.
Mask areas you don’t want
use deformations to move the bump.
