Hi,
I often export OBJs and want to merge the UVs while exporting.
I always try to remember to press the mrg button.
Is there a way to change the default setting for that? Either through a setting or through some macro?

Right now, zbrush doesn’t support a user-defined startup macro. (Known issue–It runs its own default zscript which should not be changed.)
The best work around is to start with a default workspace and record yourself making the changes you like and save that as a zscript. You can then attach that zscript to a hotkey.
Correction: Use the Macro Pallet to record your macro. Put it in a folder in your Zbrush program directory under Zstartup -> Macros. (I use a folder called “MyMacros”) The macro will then appear on each startup on the Macro pallet under that folder name. You can then assign a key to that macro button if you like.

Thanks Kerwin, so what you mean is practially creating an own export tool which does MRG and anythin else I want it to and then do the export.
Right?
Actually, what I’m suggesting is creating a macro that will contain all the settings you prefer which you can run each time right you start Zbrush. You can also records favorite tool settings and other things that may not get saved in the “store config” command. Hopefully in the next rev of ZB you will be able to tell it run this macro each time on startup automatically, but for now, you need to manually run it.
Creating your ideal macro for a specific setting of export is also another way to work around this.
Either way will work.
I don’t the first tip of yours will do.
I noticed that each time you import a mesh, the export settings for it changes.
So there is no chance - what I know - that you can set any master setting that sets MRG to on, and then save that setting as a macro.
I’ve thought about that idea but like I said, I came to the conclusion that it is not the solution for me.
If you know something I don’t, about recording a macro for the MRG purpose and save it so it gets loaded during startup, please let me know.
Otherwise I will probably have to stick to the “custom export” method we talked about earlier.
