Howdy, Well I seem to be experiencing some quirks in decimation master when trying to use it, I’ll try and explain the issue.
The model (sub-tool) I have is 3.646 Million points at subd 6. All my detail is in and the model is poly-painted. I have already used UV Master to create uvs for the bust, eyes and teeth. and made the textures and displacements or alphas for each. Saved the Sub-tool and am ready to proceed to use decimation master to bring down that 3 million number to a more manageable size.
First thing I do is check keep UVs since I have already plotted those with UV Master and do not wish to loose my seems. then with the bust sub-tool selected in the Sub-tool palette I clicked on preprocess all in the decimation palette. Zbrush seems to go through the processing motions with all the sub-tools then becomes idle but when I click on decimate all I get pop ups telling me that some of the sub-tools have not been preprocessed?
I then try to click on the remaining sub-tools one at a time and preprocess them and then once again press Decimate all but still receive the error message.
Very frustrating! PC has 4GB ram on Win XP Pro with 3.64 showing free. HD is a TB so lots of room to process those files.
However in defence of Zbrush the process WILL work about 25% of the time and produce a decimated version but not before crashing several times or not being able to preprocess all the sub-tools.
