Decimation Master help?!

can decimation master be used to lower the polycount of a tool to be added as a sub tool to another ztool?

I have modeled a head, now i would like to add it to the body, however the one PC i use crashes wen i try and add the head to the body.

i am not to worried about the joins as i am a Mask, Shoulder Armour and Neck Brace.

Just curious to see if Decimation Master can help with with adding the head to the body

Decimation Master can’t add the subtool - but you could add the highpoly Head to your other tool as a subtool and decimate it there.
You can DECIMATE CURRENT - subtool active
or
you can DECIMATE ALL - but then all subtools will be decimated

hope that helps

I don’t think so… Decimation Master is used to drastically reduce the polygon count of one or multiple subtools ready for export as a triangulated mesh but with very little or no loss in quality

The resulting decimated mesh can be exported as an .OBJ - Ive successfully got a 10 million poly mesh down to 750,000 , no problem

Hope this helps

Whoops !, sorry :o I 've re-read the question and realise you do probably know what Decimation Master does… my bad

Thank you VISEone and Bio-designer,

It is a great help thank you, my PC at home mite be able to handle the head being added to the torso, the only thing i worry about I still have to add the Armour to my character.
does it help deleting the lower sub-division levels as to not require to much RAM?

Thank you so much

Hahaha  not to worry, i haven’t used it as yet, i’m still really new to Zbrush and have been watching

“Gnomon Introduction To Zbrush 4 With Scott Spencer”

In there he explains about Decimation Master and its function and was curious.

As far as I know it doesn’t help to delete the lower subD levels. All what counts for your RAM is the total polycount.
I would decimate all tools and then re-aappend them as subtools - but be aware that Decimation means destroying your topology you had and you might have to retopo at a point for different kind of reasons…
