decimation and polypaint:

When I decimate a model I am losing polypaint am I missing something? probably only a click away. please
also if this is not where to ask questions a point in that right direction would help. I have referred to zclassroom I must be missing this.
thanks ppl

Turn on Preferences>Decimation Master>Use and Keep Polypaint. You need to turn this on before Pre-Processing the mesh. And remember that polypaint detail relies on the number of points your mesh has so you have to decide on a balance between the amount you decimate and the amount your polypaint is preserved. You can adjust the two in the Polypaint weight slider.

You can also generate PUVs for your mesh, convert the polypaint into a texture, then decimate the mesh keeping the UVs intact and simply apply the map. That way you can still get a fairly decimated mesh and maintain your textures.

ok thats perfect thanks fellas. much appreciated.
also- now I know where to post a question lol
