Deadpool Model (WIP)

Hey guys!

Here’s a model of Deadpool that I am currently working on:

Deadpoolwip01.jpg

Still very early on in the sculpting process (haven’t even really begun working on the lower body yet). Let me know what you think though! Will be updating the thread throughout the week.

A M A Z I N G

Thank you very much! More updates soon!

Here’s another update btw, am roughing out the musculature and made him a little less buff:

I know he’s missing his trade markings right now, this is just to get a rough idea of colorations

I really like the expression with the eyes in the first two images. As for the sculpt, I think you could go for an even leaner body type. Very cool Mr. Sutter…I mean Fox Hound!

lol, why thank you Mr. Green! Here’s the first Max test render of Deadpool

Ignore the blurry texture on the chest :stuck_out_tongue: I am fixing that at the moment!
Will definitely play around with his physique more!

This is the last update before I call it a night! More tomorrow!

Btw, I plan on rigging this guy and doing some rudimentary animations with him as well

Hi Ralph,

I think his overall proportions and look are really good. A couple of things could still use a little refining IMO.
I think the muscles of the back are in need of some adjustment, as well as the ribcage area. That recesss below the rear shoulder looks a little strange. Have you looked at photos of bodybuilders as a reference?
I also think the forearms feel a little strange, not so much the mass, but they feel like they don’t flow around the elbow and tie in to the upper arm.

Last thing, I think the wrinkles aren’t making sense, it feels like there are too many. Think about how the movement or position of his limbs would pull on the fabric. Right now it looks like his costume is loose rather than wrinkled from pulling and pose.

Great work on the hands and head!

Nice work!

Todd

Your anatomy does need a lot of refinement dude, but bear in mind that it doesn’t reflect on your ideas being bad at all. Deadpool is a cool character. Even with exaggerated muscles, the muscles on the arms, chest, and even rib cage don’t feel right, and even the back. Take a look a body builders with exaggerated muscles, and even though that might not be the physic you are going for, at least you will get a sense of where each muscle is located, or look at a anatomy book. Even if he is wearing clothes, when muscles aren’t in the right place, they look bad even in clothing.

As for wrinkles, try this idea, pretend you were wrapping a rope around your characters limbs. The more loose the ropes get the more they angle when the characters limbs move in the direction he points them. Look at your own clothing. Wrinkles don’t follow in a straight light the length of bicep, forearm, or torso…they cross them, even if it’s in an angle.

Nonetheless, you don’t have to apply it to this model, you seem done with it, but bear it in mind for the next one.

keep up the good job<img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

Thank you for the feedback gentlemen!

Am starting to rethink his definition, and adding more cloth wrinklage. I will stay play with his overall proportions.

His chest already has stretching fabric on it. The rest will be revised shortly! (Ignore the legs and butt btw, haven’t startef them yet).

Hey man the cloth here really bugs me… its like a strange combination of tight/stretchy and baggy. It looks really baggy in areas like the arms, neck, and waist but its still skin tight? Look at guys who wear Under armour. I feel like thats as close as you could get to reference for this kind of cloth… anyway that’s my 2 cents. Keep at it.

Thanks for the feedback Clintus! Here’s one last MAX render before I start redoing the wrinklage and musculature. The armor will help in determing the direction of the cloth  (Part of it will be blocking his chest and lower abdomen, so it will influence the cloth’s direction).

I’ll definitely wait until the armor for the legs (holster, stachel belt, etc.) are created before touching the cloth wrinkles in that region.
I also have his preliminary rig set up. Which will help in seeing what folds in which direction.

I like the proportions you got there. Just need to tweak the folds on the fabric. Maybe smooth out the areas in between the joints. Normally cloth folds are most apparent around the joint areas.

Thank you kindly! I was already going to tweak a number of things, my priority being the anatomical inaccuracies and the cloth fold errors.

Todd, Clintus and 3dMob already pointed those out. I thought it would be easier to adjust those errors by creating his armor first (to know which direction the cloth would be pulled in on the chest and legs) and to rig him (to see how the cloth would fold in the joints).

The next update definitely will have these issues resolved and fixed

Alright, so now that I am done with all of his gear (at least the basemeshes thereof)

I am off to resculpt his clothfolds and anatomical mistakes!

Here’s a major update on the overall anatomy and cloth of the model. Tweaked a bunch of areas, refined the musculature.

Now I need to go in and carve out the detail. But the overall proportions and musculature should be a lot better.

Feedback would be appreciated!

I’m not sure about the forearm mass, feels like it makes the elbow’s look rather… Small

Overall, great improvements - I like the boots!

Dude, work with refs, the anatomy is really sketchy (triceps, forearm, etc…)

big deadpool fan, looking really good dude

i’d push the ribcage in a little. seems to stick out oddly far
also it might just be the look you’re going for but deadpool’s usually a lot more lean then that so might wanna stretch him out a little so he’s not so bulky unless it’s the look your going for.

but yeah awesome stuff dude, can’t wait to see him finished

hey, everything is looking better. The only thing that is bugging me the most is his back. Im looking at my anatomy references and back to your images, and it looks like you have no Muscles going from the lower back down. It just looks like his Rib line. I would add more muscle definition to his lower back. I would defiantly look at reference. Its coming along great though.

This last one looks like what you are going for, but even yours is way to exaggerated.
