DAZ female-displacement test problem

Hi

I’m following the guide tutorial for a Poser disp map export but as I get to the stage that you test in ZBrush I get this result, I’ve double checked the process & sure it’s right but obviously I’m missing something, anybody know where I’m goin wrong?

cheers

Mangled UVs?

shouldn’t be, I ran the UV checker & all seems ok, I’ve also textured the mesh ok previously with no problems. Could be the triangulation in the DAZ mesh?

I take it that this was an imported object file?
If so, be sure that your model contains all quads if possible. Zbrush can still use a model that’s triangulated, but more often than not, you may run into trouble. If the model contained triangles before you subdivided it, sometimes that can cause artifacts.

That definantly looks like what nimajneb suggested atleast to me. Can you post a shot of your UV layout and give a simplified step by step on how your exporting/importing?

ok, here’s my UV map (obviously it’s flipped in ZBrush) it is an imported mesh and I’m following Michael Melnik’s tut in the ZBrush 2 guide. This goes as follows:

create your base MT…sub div x4 then do your detail…revert to MT…create disp map & get alpha depth info…then test by applying the map & depth value in ZBrush…that’s as far as I went as I hit the problem.head.jpg

I am sure you did not weld the model. Did you check ‘Weld Body part seams’ during Poser export?
And if, then you can still weld it with Zbrush during Import. Select the starfish looking tool. Go to tool-> Import and there you will find the weld and merge switches/sliders. Set them so that there is no ‘loose’ geometry’ which will ruin your day.

Agree with that last post. What I think it maybe is that there are faces around those tris’s and diamonds where you stop your loops that for some reason, aren’t welded (or whose UVs aren’t welded). I bet if you showed a shaded view of these UVs you’d see holes in the problem areas.

Thanks everyone, seems I may have to abandon this for now, it’s a bit of a nightmare! Seams are definitely welded when exporting from Poser, so it looks like I may have to look at remapping.
