Thanks Gary, we should try to find a time to sit down with a couple of beers before the snow flies.
that would be great dave ! remember we had snow before holloween last year - hate it need a warmer climate but you cant beat summer in New England !!
oh and i need a major hardware software update too - embarrassed to post my specs here - im free most of the time ,single never married no kids and i will be 51 on the 21st oct. so my time is all mine !!!
Hi All,
I’ve been doing some experimenting with LightCaps. Crits and Comments always welcome.
looks great Dave you model the hutch also ? sent you a private message !small_orange_diamond
Thanks Gary, yes I modeled the hutch in ZBrush. It’s a proof of concept for a local business; sort of a virtual rapid prototyping idea.
I got your PM and responded.
I’m doing more LightCap tests this time on the 50 Cal machine gun.
Here is a close up.

I really love the job you’ve done on this cannon. I’m always excited to see the work that you and Gary do here. Your both so precise and so such fantastic HS work in Zbrush. I sure learn a lot from you guys but boy do I ever still have a lot to learn. Keep em coming please.
Ezra
Hey Dave!
Great hard surface sculpting! just love the detail and the wood texture on the cannon is solid. really like the 50 cal aswell. I think the material on the barrel is to clean, I imagine the barel being cast and that always leaves some uneaven surface. some defects would help. nice to see you posting again:)
Peace
Thanks Gary, and yes Libby’s is a nice place; it was good to sit down with a fellow ZBrusher. We should definitely do that again.
Thanks Ezra, I enjoy your thread and the work you are doing too. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t learn something new in ZBrush and get inspired by posts in this forum.
Thanks Crazy Horse, excellent points on the barrel. I found some nice close up reference and added some defects, dents and scratches.
Here is an update, I also applied an Antique Bronze MatCap to the barrel and elevation mechanism and want to credit and thank Magdalena for making that MatCap, I think it provides significant improvement to the look of the cannon.
Your hard surface work is really cool. You’re obviously a stickler for details and authenticity and that makes it all the more amazing. Kudos! small_orange_diamond
