I plan to eventually texture Kimahri, but for now I’m taking a break from these complex characters and instead I’m going to revisit and continue working on this old character:

think about it! u r damaging ur wrist with that mouse.
do ur hand something good and get a medium sized intuos4.
u wont get the “tenosynovitis” or anything similar to that. you will be faster and make better art.
as for programming: why not do some game related programming? Probaply Unity? thats definitely a “plus” for a game company to hire you.
I currently do lots of 3d/unity stuff at my work and enjoy that variety.^^

I just got Ralf Stumpf shader from his latest thread and applied it to my latest model with a BPR render
It seems to make a great difference in the presentation =)
Here it is, a few angles with Ralf’s wax shader. Turntable coming soon with this shader and BPR on also.

amazing stuff dude. This is the reason why i wanna get into Zbrush. maybe one day I can produce something that is at least half as good as these models. good work
Hey thanks 3xtigy! You wiull get there some day, just put some dedication. Trust me, I’m not talented and if I managed to reach this point in 2 years, anyone can, just put the work, study and determination, talent is not the factor.
Question. Are the last 2 models I posted good enough for a demo reel, feline character and the bloodelf ??
Will post turntables soon, also have a third character coming up potentially for demo reel that I’m working on, a femal character.
I don’t know where I stand quality wise for demo reel is all…

Yeah, these last two are bad ass! You probably want at least three though, would say that’s the bare minimum for a demo reel. Also keep in mind what job you are looking for. If it’s game art you will want to show that you can create maps and assign them to low poly meshes. On the other hand it’s worth putting together and seeing who responds. Oh and give polypainting a try.

@Arthaven: thx, I’m working on a third currently, and I might use cyborg from page 1 of this thread anyhow. I always fear to texture my work coz I fear that I ruin it as I’m not so experienced yet texturing but I do plan to texture Kimahri, at least one character so I can show off UVs texture maps and final renders and lighting for the reel which would be sweet just need to make sure the waulity is up to standard of my models though. Also I might make a low poly charactr like you said, wouldn’t be a bad idea.

For a demo reel, I decided to texture and render Kimahri t show UV, texture and lighting skills
Here’s my progress so far, still more work to do but is getting there. =)
Finally switched over to VRay and I learnt it so much faster (in 1 or 2 days basically this is my first VRay attempt) and it’s giving much better results and quicker than mental ray ever did. It was the best decision for me as far as rendering, and doesn’t crash 24/7
