Damn, what about the goz for softimage?!

I tried the goz Lite, XGoz and nothing works! The first one is a simple fast import export obj, the second one crashes softimage all the time ( and i’m sure i installed it correctly). I know someone was working on the real goz, told us he’s almost finished and no news anymore. It was six months ago!!!

Yes, all application has now GoZ (Maya, 3dsm, Modo, C4d, Lightwave, Daz3d). the only excluded is Softimage and Blender… a shame for one of the most important, and historic relevant software on the market. I must think SI has not a respectable userbase… or SI user has not so many zbrush in his pipeline, I don’t know. For using the smooth GoZ workflow I must use one of the above software, but our studio is SI based, so we must think to use Mudbox… it has the some GoZ function and seems work nice in conjunction with Softimage. I think mudbox is a nice software… but I hate it…
Pixologic said they will not doing other Goz and make disposable the technology for every software want use it, but Autodesk don’t have any intention to implement it, again, a shame, and pixologic itself do not care nothing different from maya, 3dsm, cinema and modo…
Unfortunately the users attempts for a “homemage” Goz for SI don’t work in 2012 SPA, and I assume if this work a day in 2012 sap, will not work on 2013 release.

Hi and thanks for the answer.
I have thought switching to mudbox too, but the main problem is that in mudbox you work with real 3d, not 2.5 like in zbrush. Try to work with x millions of polygons…

Unfortunately as you can see there is not interest in SI.
GoX don’t crash on my system, but we pass all our seat at SI 2012 SAP, and in it don’t work at all.
Correct my previous post, Blender as now a GoZ (called GoB), so, the only one without GoZ is Softimage and Houdini (autodesk want SI take the Houdini route…
Cannot help about Mudbox, don’t like and use it.

Yeah, it is a shame that XSI has no respect in the industry, when compared to Maya or 3ds Max… Who knows how many people are even downloading the free version in Mod Tool 7.5 (maybe that’s the trouble with the interest with the full SoftImage app)? I have tested the XGoZ plugin for XSI MT, and it works flawlessly to me. It was able to export what I was working on there, and I was able to import it right on into Zbrush, no problem. So at least there are community-based GoZ plugins that are helping with SoftImage, although there are those using newer versions of SI that get crashing troubles. That should be resolved soon.

Oh, and as far as switching to Mudbox. I had thought about this, but right now… I’m holding off until I can afford Maya (yes, I would prefer Maya over 3ds Max, don’t ask me why) and Mudbox in an Entertainment Creation Suite package instead…that may be where going to that may pay off. For now, Zbrush, XSI Mod Tool, and Poser Pro 2012 will do. That’s another tool that makes me wonder if there’s a GoZ tool for. Now I know there’s a GoZ tool for DAZ Studio 4 Pro, but it seems like Poser is more widely used than DAZ, but that’s for another topic.
