Damien Standard Brush - Help.

I’m trying to learn how to use ZBrush, so I’m an absolute beginner. I’m having a bit of trouble with the Damien Standard Brush. I’m following a tutorial on the Pixalogic website on how to sculpt a squid man.
In the tutorial he uses the Damien Standard Brush for sharp indents, but I can’t seem to get the correct sharpness. When the draw size is large I get a nice sharp crease, but when I decrease the drawsize the sharpness decreases and I can’t seem to find a way to keep the sharpness when I use a small draw size.

Is there anyway I can fix this? I’ve tried zooming in loads but that doesn’t seem to work.

The dam standard brush really only works well on a hi-res mesh. Try subdeviding your mesh a couple of levels and see if that helps.

Also try increasing the z intensity as you reduce draw size.

I’m up to 6.725 Active Points (that’s Polygons, right?). I’ve subdevided it quite a few times, too. And I’ve got the Intensity to 100.

It looks more like the Clay brush. There’s just no sharpness to it.

You could also try zooming into the model instead of reducing the brush size.

6,725 is still pretty low poly count, try up around 200,000 polys. You’re not going to get much detail at that low of a level.

Sorry, I meant 6,725 mil.
