Is it possible to make a macro who let you cycle through chosen material?
If you mean cycle through the loaded materials, that is easy enough to write. Put the attached file in the ZStartup/Macros/Misc folder and restart ZBrush. You’ll have a new macro button called ‘CycleMaterials’ in the Macro>Misc submenu. Press the button to change the material. Assign a hotkey to the button if you wish.
Thank you Marcus!
That’s almost what I wanted to do, I don’t even know how to do such a simple script so thank you for your help.
But what I wanted was to cycle through just a few material that I could choose.
While sculpting I am switching from Basic Material to be able to tweak my lighting, a clay like Matcap and the Outline matcap.
I wanted to cycle through these three material without having to search through all the material.
Like the script you have done but just for these 3 materials.
The simplest way of doing that is to assign hotkeys to the different materials. For example, you might choose 1, 2 and 3 on the keyboard. To assign a hotkey:
- Click on the large material thumbnail in the Material palette so that the pop-up appears with all the materials.
- Ctrl+click on the material you want.
- Press the hotkey you want to use.
- Repeat (2) and (3) for the other materials.
- Store the hotkeys before closing ZBrush (press Preferences>Hotkeys>Store).
HTH,
there is also this great script that marcus wrote that i use every time i use zbrush:
