I’ve been trying to make something simple like a traffic cone since I can’t do **** with zbrush - and I can’t even do that properly!

I simply took a cube primitive and a cylinder and changed their initial values and merged them together with append and polygroups > auto polygroup, so it’s now one mesh and not two. And now Im trying to figure out how to make a hole at the bottom of the cone. I cant do it with the brush coz the zcut button is greyed out for some reason. I also took a look at: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=7534
…but that doesn’t help me at all. That just pseudo-cuts thru an item - can’t transform the “cut item” to a mesh so how do I make a hole at the bottom of this cone? (preferably with some circular mask so the hole is in the absolute center).
Zcut is a 2.5D feature. In other words, it affects pixols rather than polygons.
All you need to do is use the partial mesh visibility features (the Ctrl+Shift+Drag selection options) to hide the polygons you want to get rid of. Then press Tool>Geometry>Delete Hidden.
Aha so it’s that easy? Thanks a bunch
follow this link to a tut on making a vase using the extract feature. youll be able to get thickness to your traffic cone this way
