Cutting Holes

Its been a while since I’ve used zbrush, and I need a bit of help.

I’m trying to cut a hole completely through a mesh.

For example, if I had a cylinder and wanted to cut the center of it out (to make a ring), how would I do that?

I tried using the Clip Circle Center w/ the alt key, but that didn’t cut a hole like I thought it would… It added to the mesh.
Not what I wanted to do.

So, what is the best way to cut a hole in something?
I used to do this all the time, and I swore that I used the Clip Circle Center brush… AHHHHH.

Thanks for the help!

Watch “Modeling a “Radio” Part 1” in this thread. This uses the Dynamesh function.

Thank you for the tip!
I’ll check that out when I get home tonight.

Is there not a way to do it with the clip brushes?
Have I lost my mind? (wouldn’t surprise me…)

A clip brush can be used to clean up an already existing hole, but can’t be used to create one.

You can easily make a ring starting with a cylinder and going into the initialize panel, there’s some good settings within.
