Customizing the quick menu(Right click menu)

Is there a way to customize the quick menu in zbrush 3.1? I know you couldn’t do it in 2… It would be a huge help for me… I haven’t been following any zbrush guides or anything, so I’m not much up to date… I do know how to customize the zbrush palettes, but being able to tweak an easy access menu like this one in particular would be a huge advantage.

thanks

The QuickMenu cannot be customized at this time.

I also recommend using spacebar rather than right-click to activate it. There’s a known issue where right-clicking causes crashes for many users.

oh well… Thanks aurick.

Yes I have heard about the right click crash, and surprisingly, I’ve never had that problem. In fact, I rarely crash in Zbrush, and I use it periodically.

This right menu crash is really killing me. ZB just freezes. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO anoying. :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

You can safely bring up the menu by using spacebar instead of right clicking.

Yes I guess I will have to do it after using the right menu for the last 4 years.

if you use a wacom try changeing what would be the right click on the pen to act as the space bar, that way you can still get to it quickly and with out worring about ZB crashing as a result

You could also use custom palettes with a hotkey assigned to bring up your most used interface items at the current mouse cursor position.

  1. Create a custom palette with the interface items you need. See >> HERE << on how to do that.

  2. Assign a hotkey to your custom palette by CTRL clicking the custom palette title and entering a hotkey.

  3. Optionally change the function of the sidebutton on your pen to issue the hotkey you assigned. Wacom tablets allow you to do this in the Wacom Tablet Properties program. It is also possible to set the sidebutton hotkey on a per application basis so it does not mess with your workflow in other programs.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. They are really helpful.

actually I found that using the spacebar doesn’t exempt you from anymore crashing caused by rightclicking instead. It brings up the same menu, so in an event where you simultaneously bring up that menu whether or not you use spacebar to do it or not, then left click to go back to work, it still crashes. I guess the only benefit using spacebar instead of right-clicking with your pen tablet is it slows you a tad bit down to prevent you from working too fast and crashing zbrush.
