I find myself constantly switching between several subpalletes of the Tool menu. For instance the SubTool and the Geometry subpalettes. I’d like to have both of them visible at once, e.g. in the left and right sidebar. But I don’t know how to do that. I know how to customize the UI and move buttons around, but not how to move subpalettes around. Is that at all possible? If so, how?

For as far as I know it is not possble to move an entire section of a palette at once. What you could do is have the subtools open on the Tools palette and add the Geometry ( and Polygroups etc) functionality to a shelf. You will not get the open/close functionality though. And you will have to drag each and every item one after the other.
Most users start tweaking their interfaces at a certain moment. It’s easy to do and can help a lot. Best is to create your own because no-one works like you. It is also normal to keep on tweaking it for quite q long while untill it finally stabilises. Some prefer to work with loads of shorcuts, others prefer to lean back and have lots of buttons on their interfaces.
