Customised Configuration

I can’t store the uniformly black background.
I can’t store the Active Points and Total Points Count.
Each time I put them on a specific location, then store the config, when I restart ZBrush they are no more there.
The config doesn’t seem to remember the config I did customize.
But it works well for anything else.
Anyone here who could help me ?

ZBrush 3.5.3
on Macintosh under Parallels Desktop and Windows 7

Do you mean the background colors of the document? They are saved with the document itself and can be stored by pressing Document > Save As Startup Document.

Moving the Active Points and Total Points buttons is buggy right now. When you store the configuration ZBrush stores the location of a button named ActivePoints: 2,053 for example. But the name of the button when ZBrush starts is Active Points Count. ZBrush cannot find ActivePoints: 2,053 and therefor removes it.

I would suggest you hover the mouse over the currently selected 3D tool when you need the point or polygon count. However, by stopping ZBrush from loading a 3D tool upon startup you can move and store the position of Active Points and Total Points but if you should store the configuration again later on they will one again disappear. So it is probably best to use the popup info of the 3D tool icons.

Thanks a lot Mark, you make my day.
Always very nice in this forum to get a clear answer and spontaneous help

create a starup macro that will have a tool active(in 3.5r3 the sphere is default loaded) then have it load your custom configuration with the points counters where you want them and it should work, thats how i do it.

Thanks Spaceboy,
Coz I’m not a very handyman, tell me please how to do it and maybe offer me the macro …errrrr ! :o

Yes I know I’m pushing my luck …

Hey, that is pretty clever. Thanks Spaceboy :+1:

michael unfortunately my macro won’t work for you because it loads my custom ui. but its super easy.
start zbrush, hopefully you haven’t changed the startup file and the polysphere loads up.
2. enable customize, then move the point counters where you want them, disable cutsomize, then hit the Store configuration button.

now you can either make a macro which will push the Preferences:Restore Custom UI or just move that to your interface and hit it when you startup. The good thing about making a macro is you can always add more functions to it, like your default draw size, loading smooth curves, a different startup mat, turn off align to cursor etc.

i know there is a way to actually have zbrush run your startup macro on its own but i don’t know how to do it, there is a thread somewhere though and i’m sure TVeyes knows how to do it;)
