Custom UI whoopsie (answered)

I have placed a button on my bottom shelf when just opened the program, so no tool loaded or active (to avoid losing the activepoints gubbins when I save)

Curiously, I forgot that there was another button there, which only appears when I do have a tool up (it is auto groups if it matters)

My placement of the new button has shunted the auto-groups button off the right of the shelf. I can see ‘Au’ and a weeny bit of the left of the button, and I can click on it. Spookily, when activating customize UI the shelves shrink somehow, just enough for me to not be able to get hold of the little bit of the button and move it back to the proper place.

Anyone have a trick to fix this or should I remake the UI from scratch? I had a search but I couldn’t see this issue addressed elsewhere.

Cheers,

It’s not hidden by the right tray is it? If so, close that and you’ll be able to move the button.

Otherwise, what you could try is this:

  1. Set the Preferences>Interface>Button Size to its lowest value. Restart ZBrush.
  2. Enable Customize and see if the Auto Groups button remains visible. If it does, Ctrl+Alt+drag it to a new location (or to the canvas if you want to delete it from your custom UI.
  3. Store the new configuration.
  4. Reset the Button Size to 40 (the default) or whatever you prefer. Restart ZBrush.

Failing that, you can drag a new version of Auto Groups to wherever you want it, leaving the old one where it was.

Or remake the whole custom UI.

Note that in order for the ActivePoints & TotalPoints to ‘stick’ you need only select one of the 2.5D tools (such as the Simple Brush) in the Tool Palette.

Thank you mr civis, I shall go try the button size trick right away. I’ve just added another button for the time being, it’s not a massive problem but I wondered if I was being a dummy. :slight_smile:

<edit>
The button size only goes to 38, so I toggled wide buttons too for good measure. One or the other of these factors seems to have done the trick and I’ve managed to get the little blighter off the lower shelf.

Thanks again for the cunning idea. :smiley:
