Custom UI weirdness

Hey Everyone,

So I figured out how to re-arrange the UI in Zbrush and wow is it cool!! Ive been making custom menus and placing frequently used buttons all over the interface!!

One weird problem Im coming across is that with any custom arrangement of the UI, upon my next startup of Zbrush, the ActivePoints/TotalPoints readouts are missing. Ive tried leaving them in their default location at the top, moving them to another place on the UI and they always are missing.

Another really strange thing is if I load one of the default ZTools, like the DemoHead, I can hit the Restore Custom UI button and the polycount readouts pop back in place, but when I try this with a ZTool I’ve saved, nothing happens.

Not the most urgent of problems, the benefits of having all of the buttons arranged however you like them totally outweighs the annoyance of having to load a default tool and hit the Restore UI button, but has anyone else come across this?

Thanks,

-Chris

Start ZBrush but do not load a 3D tool. Enable Customize and Ctrl+Alt+drag the ActivePoints/TotalPoints from Preferences>Misc to where you want them. Although the buttons will be grayed out you’ll still be able to drag them. Turn off Customize and store the UI. Now when you start ZBrush the values will be there.

Thanks Marcus!! You were right on, saving my layout without a tool loaded makes it work perfectly.

Thanks again!!

-Chris
