Custom shortcuts getting disabled

Hello there ZBrushCentral!

Sometimes when I sculpt the custom hotkeys that I have stored gets disabled. I don’t know why it happens and how to get them back. It does not help to restart the program either, it just takes some time, then they come back eventually. All the standard hotkeys still works though.

Does anyone of you have the same problem, or know how I can fix this? Is it some key combination that I am pressing without even knowing?

I am using Zbrush 4r3 on win 7 pro 64.

Thanks,
Asbjørn Nedrehagen

Can you give an example of which hotkeys are not working? Are they for plugins, and are you using combinations with Ctrl, Shift or Alt in them? Also, how are you storing your custom hotkeys? For them to be loaded each time you need to press the Preferences>Hotkeys>Store button.

Sure, the hotkeys that gets disabled is the ones I have made myself, they all contain various combinations of ctrl, shift and alt + a keyboard key.

These hotkeys are set to brushes mostly but also other functions from the tool palette. Example: [Alt]+[S] for my standard brush, [Alt]+[C] for my Clay brush, [Alt]+[Q] To toggle the Solo button, [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[G] to crease edges.

They are stored properly and normally loads when I start Zbrush, but not always. I don’t know whats happening to the hotkeys, so I just wait it out, and suddenly they are back. Would be nice to know how to fix this, I can’t work properly without them.

Thanks for replying to my post marcus_civis! Hope this helps.

Well, I don’t really know what might be going wrong. All I can suggest is that you set up a macro to reload your hotkeys. That should then mean your work isn’t interrupted any more than necessary. Install the attached file in your ZStartup/Macros/Misc folder and press Macro>Reload All Macros. You’ll then have a button called ‘ReloadHotkeys’ that will reload the startup hotkeys.

Alright, Ill try that next time it happens!

Last time it happened I noted that I can still use the hotkeys via the radial menu on my wacom, if you are familiar with it. Here I have set up keystrokes that I trigger with my wacom buttons, and this still works when the problem occurs. So the custom hotkeys are not entirely gone, I just can’t access them with my keyboard. Although all the basic hotkeys still works on the keyboard, like [W] for move and [E] for scale and so on. I have also made a clean new installation of Zbrush, but the problem is still there.

But thanks for the help, much appreciated!

It sounds as though there is some sort of conflict going on between the wacom input and the keyboard input, in which case it is more likely a driver problem rather than anything to do with ZBrush.

Alright, I will have a look into it

Thanks
