What are the CurveMulti brushes doing that allow them it to have multiple live curves?
Is there a setting or modifier value that can be set to use this same multi-curve behaviour with other curve brushes?
Brush > Modifiers > Mode. Just play around with that slider while in Curve Mode.

I don’t know how I missed that. I figured it would be the mode setting to begin with, but then I guess I must have looked at the wrong values when I compared the two curve tube brushes and wrongly concluded that it must be something else. Now that I look again it works exactly I originally expected it to.
