"Curve Creation and Manipulation"

I’m missing something in this section of the docs.

I can draw a curve OK. But how do I then edit it?

The doc says:

“By hovering over the curve without clicking on it, you will attract the curve
to move with your cursor”

True, but how do I then ‘apply’ that change? Clearly not by clicking, which closes the operation.

The handles at the end of the curve seem to non-functional too, are they there to be dragged?

[Edit: That is, when I move the mouse away from the curve it snaps back to its original location.
How do I stop that from happening?]

Ross.

Make sure you are on DragDot stroke before you draw the curve.

Hmm. Thanks zber. But it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I know I selected DragDot ‘after’ drawing the curve before, so I went back
and checked again, making sure to pre-select it (why isn’t it forced?).

But I still don’t see how you are supposed to make changes to the drawn
curve. As soon as you move the mouse away from the curve it snaps back
to its original location.

(BTW: I’m using “Curve Tube” on a Dynamesh Sphere with “Drag Dot” stroke).

Hmm. It’s not a pressure thing is it? I don’t have a tablet here. I can
check again when I have access to one.

OK, I just loaded the Dynamesh sphere project and using the CurveTube brush, drew a tube and didn’t have any problem manipulating the curve/tube. You do have to click down when you have the blue cursor to edit the curve. Are you doing that?

Yep. I’ve tried that (left-click)

It has no effect. Unless I’m too far away from the curve, in which case I drop out of ‘curve edit’ mode.

Right-click gets me the shortcut (spacebar popup) menu.

Thanks for your suggestions though.

OK. Thanks zber2. I have it now. Click AND drag.

I think what threw me was the way the curve vanishes as soon as you click (at least when I do it),

[Edit: and the way the curve moves before you click at all (why do that?)]

[Edit2: and the way the doc’ says NOT to click - lol]

I rather expected it to stay on screen so I could see what I was doing. But I guess you go by the
effect of the change on whatever stroke you are dealing with.

Thanks again.

Ross.

Your welcome Ross. I’m glad you have it working. Yes, the curve does disappear as your dragging it. That is normal.

But how can you move it ?
I draw the curve then in that form i want to move it around, like the clipping curves for example ? I tryed but no effect!

Turn of “Bend” in the Curve Options afterwards. Then (in DragDot Mode) you can move them around without modifying their shape

You can click on any of the extremes and use the spacebar to move it around.
