Ctl + z doesn't work for undo in Z4??

I’m liking Z4 so far, but my ctl+z stopped working for undo. I reset the hotkey, it worked for awhile, then stopped again. This keeps happening. Maybe it’s when I switch subtools? Anybody else notice this?

I don’t know what would be causing this but this may solve it:

  1. Go to the Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\HotKeys folder and open the StartupHotkeys.TXT file in Notepad.

  2. Add the following lines to the end of the file:

[EDIT:UNDO,634]
[EDIT:TOOL:UNDO,634]
  1. Save the file and restart ZBrush.

Note: as you reset the hotkey you’ll have other entries for EDIT:UNDO in the file. Delete these.

HTH,

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks, Marcus!!

Marcus - This used to happen to me all the time in 3, 3.1, and 3.5 actually.

It was never persistent though…a restart would fix it.
Good to know that 634 = ctrl+z though :stuck_out_tongue:

harbottle,

I’m glad that has helped.
I forgot to mention if Redo gives problems to add in this:

[EDIT:REDO,890]
[EDIT:TOOL:REDO,890]

goast666,
Yes, I remember folks having this problem before. You can find the number for the key combination by looking at the Preferences>Utilities second slider (View keyboard status). For example, it will show 32 after pressing the spacebar.

Thanks Marcus, Worked like a charm!
Do you have any fix for the “x” key not working for symmetry ??
Scott Patton

Scott,

I’ve not heard of that. How is it not working? Does “X” simply stop switching symmetry on and off?

Yeah, It comes and it goes, all the other hot key work .The X key will just stop working randomly, even after multiple re-starts.
Scott

Scott,

I suggest you re-assign the hotkey:

  1. With a model in Edit mode, Ctrl+Alt+click on the Activate Symmetry button in the Transform palette.
  2. Without moving the cursor press ‘X’ on the keyboard.
  3. Store the hotkey by pressing Preferences>Hotkeys>Store.

I think this should work. If it doesn’t please let me know.
