I’m merely a hobbyist, so I don’t have industry knowledge about pipelines and such. However, I’ve been tooling around with cryengine v (since it’s pay what you want!) and right now am struggling to make some decent grass. I thought, “mmmm maybe I can use zbrush fibermesh and do something…” Well, like I said, not in the industry, have no clue how to get these different platforms to work together. So, I do an internet search, and it seems very complicated, running through 3ds max and some other software to import/export obj. files, uvwraps, decimation, something something. Anyways, I’ve communicated my particular curiousity (if there was an easy answer to that question I would be super stoked!), but generally, is there a good tutorial or forum that articulates how, under what scope, and to what extent zbrush and cryengine v may work together? These are the only two pieces of software I have at the moment, and just a hobbyist happy to create what I can. I’m not interested in buying 3ds max or anything else. Thanks!
I’m also ‘new’ to zbrush, and have never used, but its fairly easy:L
ZBrush can export native modo, Maya and LightWave files, OBJ files with curves for applications which support them, as well as FMG (FiberMeshGuide; a dedicated file format for the developers who would like to create an importer).
That is your answer as far as pipeline, but maybe you can import direct into cryengine V given the visuals I’ve seen from that engine.
If not, some clever scripting may be needed, or someone has already done it, ie: check Cry forums, etc.

The only thing I think you can do is export the objs and import them into cry engine, if you want to do more than that zbrush isn’t too capable of that, you’d need to get your hands on a student version of maya or something like that if you want to get involved in textures and proper uvs etc.
Cheers,
Joshua
great, thanks guys. I’ve switched to unreal and found that easier to pick up. I’m going to try to export some meshes in fbx. not even sure if that’s the right lingo, but here goes!
Glad to hear you’ve found what you need.
I’ve used ue4 for months,almost a yr now and I love it.
Its the best Ive seen for landscape editing and maybe even coding now given BP’s and other api’s being broght in.
