Decided to see what I could do from a sphere in Zbrush and ended up with this. So far I am pleased with where it is going so I will keep working it : )

i really like the structures of the bones, the anatomy of the flesh over it works perfectly, nothing to crit so far, looking forward to progress
Looking good Scott… first thing I thought of when I saw it was to make his eyes look like flies eyes, the shape seems to suggest that very naturally.
Great concept man. My only critiq would be to make the rest of it or an arnour or something and texture it. Keep going looks very promising

You are a hell of a sculptor, Scott. And a great designer too…
Really like this character…

Hi Scott,
Well, this is simply realy cool
Personaly I like the idea of this guy having no eyes. Makes him a lot mor freaky
I’d love to see him textured…
Dizzy Boy
Cool head. I like the fine details you have on the head model. Very nice…

Thanks for the encourgment and input everyone! Yeah, I am going to keep the “fleshy fold” look over his eyes as I find that really creepy It is like there is nothing to reason with if there are no eyes : ) Hopefully I can steal some time today and get some updates up.
Thanks again! : )
Scott
Brillant! You didn’t record this, did you?

Really nice face Scott!!
alex.
nice details on the lower part of the face.
Alex: Thanks man! : )
Downward: Thanks, I am working on bringing the details into the rest of the sculpt and refining the forms. Lunch breaks arent long enough ; )
Ryan: Thank you! : ) Unfortunately I never think to save the script : P

Updated with a new WIP image. I am playing with the higher frequency details and if I have time I will be painting a color map. I leave for Florence, Italy in three days to go to The Florence Academy of Art for sculpture (wheee!) Drop me an email if you are a Zbrush user in Florence and you wanna hang out.
I hope you like the WIP : )
Scott
VERY special thanks to Monstermaker who’s alphas are in the mix as well as Sokar who’s light setup helped get me on track for the lighting. Monstermaker your alphas are the closest things to sculpting texture stamps I have found, GREAT stuff!!
Wicked tasty head.
Just curious though…why from a sphere and not a ZSphere?
Can we get a wire?
Looking forward to more of this critter.
Can’t wait til ya color this guy up…this last post …fantastic…I can envision several ways to go but seeing how you see it is gonna be fun!!
Good luck in Italy!..Not that you need it mind you…I guess I should say…live and love that opportunity!!
Best to ya!
Thanks Aminuts!! I have no idea how I will color him yet either. I am looking forward to it. I need to see how I can use a color texture with the bumpviewer material so I can exploit both maps.
Mahlikus: Thanks man. I used a sphere because I have yet to explore the zsphere tools and I really just wanted to do a straight sculpture on a sphere, like a lump of clay with no expectations. Unfortunately as a result there are poles at the top and bottom of his head. I deleted the lower levels early in the process and made a polymesh but you can still see the sphere topology in there : P
one more update before I hit the bed. Thanks again for the input everyone!
Scott
