Hi been playing with Zbrush about 2 months or so and Im finally coming to terms with the program…well almost, my problem is that i created some props ,(skulls crosses, ect…) for other programs to use and render in. and they are just soo large (file size ) one (skull) is like 35MB alone! (compared to other high detailed props i purchased…around 1mb only)35MB is entirely to large for a prop.so was wondering if there was a way to create in Zbrush very detailed props, objects, ect without ending up with a file which is too large for anything other then Zbrush?
file size is directly related to the polycount of the object. You use displacement and normal maps to bring out the details on the object without actually having millions of polygons.
no maps, Im not using Zbrush for that but thanks though…what i wanted to know is If i subdivide a couple of times to get a good surface to do some high res details (cuts groves ect…) details on it ends up being entirely too large for 1 prop(after all the subdivisions) so was or is there a way to bring it back down to normal sizes(as in not 35mb) without losing the high detail SHAPE that was created…
I’m not sure I am understanding what you’re trying to get out of Zbrush. But you can retopo an object to have the low res better hold the detail/form changes that were made during sculpting.
If you could post up some images of what you’re doing that would help me and probably others to better understand the question.
