Creating Machine Parts with nice topology

Hi
I’m creating a scifi styled orb using the Live Bool feature and some basic geometry.
When I create the mesh initially, it has a very nice machined look to it. Very sharp edges etc. But the topology isn’t great as you can see in my screen shot.

If I remesh it, even at the maximum target polygons count, adaptive size and curves strength, the resulting mesh is ruined:

Is there anyway to create clean topology whilst keeping the form of the mesh in the first screen shot?

I am also fairly farmiliar with Blender, Maya and 3DS Max, does anybody know if there are there better solutions for creating machine parts like this in those software? even just a link I could follow to educate myself or a recommendation would be awesome. Otherwise hopefully there’s something I can do here in Zbrush.
