Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to create “good” displacement maps in Zbrush to use in Cinema 4D using the built-in renderer AR3 or VrayForC4D or Maxwell. When using GoZ to Cinema 4D then the displacement map is setup automaticly and I think it renders pretty nice using the built-in Advanced Render, but not as good as it looks in Zbrush. I have some questions…
First… Is it possible to create a displacement map in Zbrush that can be used with any renderer (and any 3D-app…) and also expect them to render the same amount of details as seen in Zbrush or do I need to optimize the “export settings” for each displacement map depending on which renderer I will use later?
Which value of "DPSubPix" in the ZB "Displacement panel" should be used when creating displacement maps and can this value be used for every displacement map I create, for any kind of tool? Higher values generates more accurate displacement maps, right? So, should I then always set the DPSubPix value to "4", since it would generate the best map?!
When exporting a 32-bit displacement then I can't use the same height settings as with the 16-bit displacement exported with GoZ. Why is this? I have changed to Gamma 1.0 in Cinema. What else do I need to adjust when creating a 32-bit displacement map for Cinema 4D?
Also, should I generate 32-bit displacement maps from the same SDiv level as when creating 16-bit maps?
Is there some step-by-step tutorial available somewhere? Any help or info is much appreciated. Thanks!
