Creating Chest Armour

Hello. I am trying to create chest armour for a character model. As you can see in the image, there are three or four tube-like formations going along the chest area of the model. I was wondering, is this detail something that you would sculpt in to a model or would you model the tube-like shapes as separate geometry. Thank you.

depends. If they aren’t wrapped in cloth I would probably keep them separate. The image you’ve shown has them wrapped in cloth though, if that is the look you need/want then I would start with them separate, curve tube or the like, and then dynamesh the whole thing and start sculpting.

You may also notice that there are bolts on the chest plate. Again, would I sculpt in this detail to the mesh or would I model them separately? Thank you.
