creating accurate polygroups

hi,

I’m trying to split a head/scalp into polygroups as I’ve read elsewhere that it’s a good process to follow for fibermesh hair and being able able to select/isolate different areas for stlying.

the trouble I’m having is in creating the polygroups in the first place - making off doesn’t seem to give much control over the selection of individual polys, so I’m ending up with gaps in the groups etc. I really need to have a precise line between groups as my character doesn’t suffer from alopecia.

Is there any special techniques for creating accurate polygroups?

show/hide your mesh at your lowest subD level and create polygroups based on visible the visible mesh.

thats how I did it in the end beta. the trick was to select the whole scalp first, then progressively mask off, group and hide the remaining areas. Does seem to help with fibermesh hair, which is unruly at best =S
