creating a Zbrush preset - Answered

WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY RESPONSE

Hi everyone and thanks for taking the time.
I am an architecture student who is doing a research based project with some use of Zbrush.
What i (or rather my professors, who know nothing about this software) need to find out is whether it is possible to input/create a new, not yet existing zbrush preset (.zbp)?
Of course if you ask me, I dont see the need of it anyway, since this program has so many brushes that I will not even require more than 1% of its capabilities for my project, but that is not the point in this case.
My professors are curious if there is a way for example to scan an existing tool (maybe a real physical brush ?) with a 3d scanner and create a zbrush preset out of it?

Since i dont know much about this software myself, i am hoping that someone out there will be kind enough to help.
Thanks very much

Lily

What you would do in this case is select the existing brush that matches the behavior of what you want. You would then import your scan as an alpha and apply that to the brush. You can now simply save the brush to have it ready for use in the future. You can also create a custom icon for the brush. See the New Features PDF in your Documentation folder.

You can even put that new brush (up to 25 total) in the ZStartup\Brushes folder so that it is loaded every time ZBrush is launched. Or it can go in the ZBrush 4R2\ZBrushes folder so that it can easily be browsed to via LightBox.
