Creating a model for 3D printing (STL)

I will be producing a model that will ultimately be being converted to STL for 3D printing.

I was just wondering if anyone could answer some questions I have about the best process to use for modeling.

If I am making a head for example, I would normally have the eyes be separate subtools, but should I avoid this if the head will be being printed as one object?

Actually, that is the only questions I have, ‘to subtool, or not’

Cheers

I’m sorry are you pointing me to somewhere specific in the Classroom, or are you suggesting that I go and find the answer in the classroom?

Sorry, yes i am  http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/

Just pick the Sculpting in ZB for 3D rinting by Jeff Feligno

Thought you’ll see it

Ah cool. I’ll take a look at those tonight. Thanks.

OK, I took a look and that looks great. It helped a lot.

Here’s something I don’t understand.

Am I right in the assumption then that as long as subtools are fully imbedded in each other, when you merge them it all works ok for print?

Is there a way to merge the poly tools and have them become part of the same bit for sculpting? Do I do that with retopology tools?
