Create texture from polypaint

I painted the tool and used UV Master to create the UVW.
But there is only one polygroup but the program still calculates 19 pices.
When I then create texture from UV Check the tool turns bright Red and the painted texture is lost.
It works well on other newly created tools. But this one won’t work.

I’ll upload a zip shortly if needed. Maybe this is a typical “user fail” case. An d you know the answer.

pics or it didn’t happen.

Yes you are totally right. So here I show the steps I took and the outcome.

shouldn’t the unwrapped map look unwrapped
to me it looks like GUV or some other technique.

Sorry I use this software so rarely that I forget or the entire tech change frome one time to the next.

yeah, that didn’t work right.
What happens if you actually give it polygroups for you islands? Also, does that model have subD levels? If so, are you working on a clone and copying and pasting the UVs?

Is that a mask on the model or polypaint?

No ther are no subD levels. I’ll make some polygroups and see what happens.
No that is not a mask but for a texturemask for later in production.

I’ll report back how it goes

ok, so I created polygroups and exported to Max and unwrapped there to exlude the unwrap from the equation.
The back in ZB I filled it with black paint and painted white in a few areas. Pressed “Texture/New from Polypaint”
Voila! White texture.
I wonder if I can reset any messed up properties in the tool if I merge it into a new tool, delete the new tool and work from there?

I have restarted the system and I still have the same problem.

Well the create texture New From Masking works as expected and creates a texture with the painted mask in the proper place so I guess the only question is why the Polypaint -> texture won’t work?
