Crease bevel issue

This is a simple procedure but it fails to do what I expect each and every time.
This is the case since the latest update from what I can tell.

Initialize>add multiple edgeloops>crease all>bevel width.

Every time I do this it loses a couple of faces.
Note how all bevel intersections on the long side form a square. But not where things go wrong, the intersection forms a triangle rather than a square and loses a couple of nearby faces. Every time.bug.jpg

There must be something irregular about your geometry in that area. Perhaps your creasing technique did not actually crease all edges in that area, before you used Tool > Crease> Bevel, which only bevels creased edges. Make sure to clear any masking.

 1. View the model with Tool > Display Properties > Double active to determine if this is truly a missing polygon (probably not) or an area of polygons that has had its normals flipped.

 2. View the model with polyframe mode active prior to beveling, to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary in that area.

 3. Use Zmodeler instead to crease and bevel the edges with an appropriate target selected, to see if you get different results.

4)View the model with Dynamic Subdivision active, which will preview what the mesh will look like when smoothed, and may reveal topology that isn’t evident at the lowest subdivision level.

Thanks for the quick reply Spyndel

So smoothing reveals two vertices weren’t properly welded.
This appears to happen when i use the multiple edgeloop function.
It’s definitely repeatable.

Note that on other shapes it doesn’t happen so far. It appears specifically to happen with a simple flat rectangular objects divided up by multiple edgeloop.
Ive recreated the error a few times now with new geo, same deal, though two other times it didn’t (not sure what I did different though).
the number of disconnected vertices also differs, though so far usually 2, here’s four though:

I know I can repair it with Modify Geo>Weld but it’s a pretty annoying bug.
I haven’t ran into this problem with previous updates.

How exactly are you inserting your edgeloops? I can’t recreate this with either Zmodeler or the new slicer deformer.

I simply use the multiple edge loop function of the zmodeler brush.
I’ve repeated the procedure a number of times now. It doesn’t always show up.

I’ve tried to make a movie:

As you notice it’s simply multiple edge loop with the zmodeler brush, mouse click and drag.
Doesn’t always show up but repeat it enough times and you see it.
Note again it appears to be specifically affecting flat rectangular objects so far.
Haven’t seen the same issue for example with a cube though admittedly i haven’t repeated it with other shapes as much as with this rectangular shape.

How did you generate your base geometry? With Initialize > Qcube?

[edit]

Never mind. I have also recreated this now, and can verify the issue.

I would make a ticket and submit this thread and video directly to Support. They may or may not notice it here.

Thanks for the assist Spyndel. I sent a ticket to Support :).
